But even such unpleasant things can become more a part of us than we know, and forgetting may not always lead to being any happier.

Is all of this worth it, for what they're competing for?

I understand the need for such a contest between them, but- I do not believe anything makes it right to take a life.

If we all thought that way, maybe this competition would end without anyone else resorting to murder.

We can only do what we're able. Perhaps there will still be some way to keep others from following suit.

If you've got any suggestions, I'm ready to try pretty much anything.

Unfortunately, none so far, beyond keeping an eye on who we can in order to keep them safe.

Not that it will do much when we aren't conscious, but we can still try.

If we find the right person often enough, maybe potential murderers will decide it isn't worth the risk.
